January Challenges!! & A very Happy Birthday to our Freds!!

It's been a while since my last post because it has been one thing after another.
Small stuff has had chicken pox and I ended up at the hospital last week-end, very tight chest even though I knew it was OK, 111 wanted to make sure.

Yesterday Nanny B had a stroke and is now comfortable in hospital. So our thoughts are with her.
It's a matter of waiting to see how bad/good the situation is. Hopefully there will be some good news later.

Well we are back to the grind after a nice Christmas break, I posted this yesterday.

Took the (now) 9 y o out of school in September, I had been previously teaching her Math as she was struggling at school and she was getting extra lessons whilst in school. She hated maths because she thought she was stupid.
3 and a bit months on after a extended break to do other things for a month, she is now breezing through year 4/5/6/ maths.
I started her on year 3 in September to catch up on last year and see where we stood.
I just asked her if she wanted to do something else a bit of English or Science and she said no, I love maths now.
We are doing year 6 fractions and denominators today.
  • 20 people like this.

  • Studyladder is a great learning programme and when it comes to fractions, make sure you have a fraction wall for a visual aid, even I'm learning!!

  • I am on week 2 of my Forensic Science Course, this week we are covering 'Fingerprints' . Really enjoying the challenge and it is a challenge.

This is before the plague struck, out with the crew....

This is after, poor small stuff still learning....  Spots and all, no stopping her.

She is learning to use the Ipad, up above is a picture of Nyan cat. Here for your enjoyment is the video, this is the one hour version, there is a ten hour version as well........

Here is her picture of herself as Amy Lee

The real Amy Lee for comparison....

Pretty close really apart from the pox ...

She has learned how to do this herself. I also tested her on Studyladder and she scored 28 out of 30, so her letters and adding is going great. She also loves Minecraft and is desperate to learn to read and write so she can communicate with the other kids and a headset so she can Skype with her friends......
Not bad for a 4 yo.

Even Lilly was impressed.

We have our poster for The Great British Year up.

We are waiting to count the birds in our garden, still time to register!!!

Managed to get out for a couple of hours for the first time today in what feels like weeks (trip to the hospital Sunday night doesn't  count)

Me and Tall went to our favourite shops and got ourselves some bargains.

We needed a new calender not bad for £1.

Some Captain Underpants books in the 3 for £1 section and........

We also got a book on plants.

A book to teach us how to make even better paper airplanes, I can see us having great fun with this one in the summer outside. Lots of experiments about aerodynamics.

We also got an unopened Pooh kit to add to the sewing and craft collection.

A love cushion and some stickers for the small one.

Impulse buy because the material was so pretty.

A fabulous dress that was retailing for £25 but once I pointed out it needed repair we managed to get for £5, we will repair it and either make cushions or a quilt or sell it on Ebay as a lesson in commerce and profit,

These pictures do not do it justice trust me.

Also would like to wish a very Happy Birthday to our little Minion who is 6 today. Lots of love from the quarantine crew aka spotty, moley and aunto ..... xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Anyway time for me to sign off now and get on with the FSC.

Hope everyone has a fantastic week-end :D
